
Pitt Wraps Up Action At Joe Piane - Notre Dame Invitational Friday

SOUTH BEND, IN – The Pitt cross country squads continued their seasons on Friday afternoon in South Bend, IN at the Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invitational at the Burke Golf Course. Jack Miller posted the highest finish on the men's side while Emily Brown paced the women's squad.
The Pitt men finished in 18th place out of 23 talented squads that consisted of 10 top-30 nationally ranked teams. The Panthers posted a team score of 428 while the winning team from Furman posted a score of 129. On the women's side, Pitt took home 15th place in the field of 24 squads with a team score of 318. The winner in the women's race was California Baptist University with a team score of 44.
In a strong field on the men's side, Miller once again crossed the finish line first for the Panthers as he posted a new personal record 8K time of 24:25.40 en route to a 43rd place finish. The next three finishers for Pitt were Luke Henseler who posted a 60th place finish with a time of 24:38.30, Evan Addison who finished in 69th place and Josh Higgins who crossed the line in 25:12.70. Ethan Maher, Sam Otis, Trey Gannon, Peyton Geehrer and Quintin Gatons also competed in the second meet of the season for the Pitt men.
On the women's side, Brown paced the Panthers for the third straight meet to open the season as she finished in 43rd place overall with a new personal record time of 18:20.10. Freshman Sarah Hurst had another strong showing as she posted the 48th place finish with a personal record time of 18:23.30 while fellow freshman Emily Jobes took home 52nd place in 18:29.10. Mary Borkoski, Winnie Incorvaia and Reagan Flannery each competed in their second straight meet, finishing in 73rd, 104th and 153rd places, respectively.
Pitt will have a week off before returning to action Friday, Oct. 15 at the Penn State National Open in University Park, PA.
