
Three Panthers Earn Titles in Pitt Gymnastics Opener

Beckwith, Chamberlain, Coca Receive Tops Scores
RALEIGH, N.C. – Three Panthers earned event titles for the University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (0-1, 0-1 EAGL) in their season opener at NC State (1-0, 1-0 EAGL) Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum.
Both Katie Chamberlain and Katrina Coca returned to competition following season-ending injuries, and each scored 9.875 on uneven bars to be named co-champions in the event. Chamberlain competed for the first time in over two years, since her career debut on Jan. 12, 2019. It was Coca's first appearance since the NCAA Championship Semifinals on April 20, 2018.
Sophomore Lauren Beckwith earned the win on balance beam with a career-best score of 9.850.
Junior Olivia Miller competed in all-around for the first time since her freshman season, earning a 38.350.
The Wolfpack earned the team victory by a score of 194.925-192.850.
BARS
The first rotation marked a triumphant return for Chamberlain and Coca, who each earned scores of 9.875 to become co-champions in the event. The score was a career high for Chamberlain. Freshman Trinity Macy made her career debut in the event, posting a 9.725. Junior Olivia Miller earned the same score for the Panthers. The team earned a 47.925 to open the meet.
VAULT
Sophomore Ciara Ward earned third place overall with a 9.775 on vault, leading the Panthers. Miller followed with a 9.750. Senior Jordan Ceccarini and freshman Nay'yarrah Winder each scored 9.675, and sophomore Emily Liszewski rounded out scoring with a 9.550. The Panthers trailed 97.475-96.350 after scoring 48.425 as a team on vault.
FLOOR
Beckwith competed on floor for the first time in her career and led the Panthers with a 9.775. Miller earned the same top score, followed by a 9.600 from Liszewski. Junior Kiley Robatin recorded a 9.550, followed by a 9.125 from Ceccarini to round out scoring. The Panthers combined for a score of 47.825 on floor. In total, Pitt had a three-event score of 144.175, still trailing the Wolfpack (146.025).
BEAM
Beckwith earned her career-high score of 9.850 as the anchor on beam. Two Panthers competed on the event for the first time: Coca, earning a 9.825, and Macy, earning a 9.625. Robatin contributed a 9.725, and Ceccarini posted a 9.650 to complete the top scores for Pitt. The Panthers' final event score was its best of the meet, recording a 48.675 on beam.

The Panthers will host their first home meet of the season, welcoming George Washington and Kent State to Fitzgerald Field House Sunday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. The meet will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, available via the ESPN app. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 regulations, Pitt will not be permitted to host fans at the Fitzgerald Field House.
