9/22/2020 4:04:00 PM | Women's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Miss. – Pitt women's soccer garnered its first-ever top-25 ranking in program history with a No. 12 ranking in the first United Soccer Coaches' Poll, announced Tuesday.
Winning all four games so far in the fall, the team is tied for the best start in program history (2006 and 2009) with a goal aggregate of 14-1. The Panthers swept two games at Appalachian State (4-0 and 7-1), beat Syracuse 2-0 in its home and ACC-opener and won 1-0 in overtime at Navy, the reigning Patriot League Champions. Amanda West also leads the nation in goals (four), assists (three) and points (11).
The United Soccer Coaches' Poll has condensed rankings with only 15 teams ranked. Only teams that have played a game were selected. Five other ACC teams earned rankings, most of any league in the nation.
Pitt continues road non-conference play with two games against The Citadel, Thursday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.
