Delaware Native to Join Panthers
PITTSBURGH – Pitt gymnastics head coach Samantha Snider announced Wednesday the addition of incoming freshman Nay'yarrah Winder to the 2021 roster.
"We are excited to welcome Nay'yarrah to the Pitt gymnastics family," Snider said. "She is a powerful gymnast who will be competitive in our vault and floor lineups. She has a passion for this sport and we are looking forward to her arrival with our program."
Winder trained with First State Gymnastics in Newark, Del., as a level 10 gymnast from 2018-20. Most recently, the Dover, Del., native competed on floor exercise at four meets this spring, including Elevate the Stage (Feb. 21), the Excalibur Cup (Feb. 14), the Metroplex Challenge (Jan. 24) and the Hill's Maryland Classic (Jan. 17).
At the 2017 Level 9 Eastern Championships in Lansing, Mich., Winder won vault, tied for third place on beam and placed second in the all-around competition.
"It was important to me to choose a school that would take my gymnastics career to the next level as well as provide me with a challenging curriculum that would prepare me for the real world," Winder said. "The University of Pittsburgh checked all the boxes."
