Panthers Earn Third Consecutive USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

Panthers Honored for Work in Classroom
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the third consecutive year, the University of Pittsburgh volleyball team has earned the United State Marine Corps (USMC) / American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, as announced Monday.
The recognition marks the first time in program history that Pitt has earned the award for three or more consecutive seasons.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
The Panthers earned a 3.5 team GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.
Pitt is one of 11 ACC schools with the recognition, joined by Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
