Dear Pittsburgh,
What a ride. As I take this time in isolation to reflect on my time at Pitt, all I can really put into words is how grateful I am for my journey and everyone I have met along the way.
Before graduating high school, I had no idea where I wanted to attend college or if I even wanted to continue my gymnastics career at the collegiate level. Even though I was in a difficult situation with gymnastics at the time, I could feel that my time as a gymnast wasn't finished. Luckily, I was given the chance to try out for the team. To this day, I still think it is the best decision I have ever made. Gymnastics has a lot of ups and downs, but to be able to call myself a Division I gymnast was the highest of highs for me. That was my dream. Pitt, thank you for making one of my favorite dreams come true.
Even though my college career was not off to a great start, I think my last couple years in college were the best years of gymnastics I have ever competed. I would not be the gymnast I am today without Sam, Ryan, Dave and Shawn. You four have been some of the most influential people in my life, and I can't wait to see you all at my wedding *wink wink* To everyone who doesn't know, Pitt has the best coaching staff and athletic trainers in collegiate gymnastics. They all believed in me when I didn't. They pushed my past my limits to show me I am stronger than I think. They cared about me and my well-being. I am so proud to say I was coached and taken care of under this staff. Thank you for changing the course of my career and allowing me to have no regrets with my career.
I can tell you this team was something special this year. We had a heartbreaking end to our season, but I could not be prouder of my teammates for persevering through preseason and season. You guys are my sisters for life, and I love you all more than you'll ever know! Thank you for making my last year the best year I could've asked for.
To all the fans: you all are amazing. I am so grateful our team had all your endless support these last four years. You have no idea how much you all mean to me and this team. Thank you for everything!
Lastly, I need to take some time to thank my family. You all have supported me throughout my 19-year journey. Having you all at senior night was really special, and I just love you all so much. Thank you for everything.
It's scary to think my time as a gymnast is coming to a close, but I cannot be more excited to explore the world and pick up new hobbies on the way. Thank you, Pitt, for providing me with all the opportunities and resources I needed to succeed. I will always be hailing.
I'll miss you, gymnastics, thanks for everything.
Hail to Pitt!
