Dear Pittsburgh,
What a journey it's been. From the first day I walked on to campus until now, my life has changed, drastically. I've met so many people, made many friends, and created memories that will last me a lifetime. This place has not only matured me as an individual but has groomed me to be ready for whatever the world has to offer. Growing up, I never imagined living a place so far from home and feeling at peace. However, over time this city has become my second home. I've laughed, cried, and experienced some of my most amazing moments here at Pitt, and for that, I'm forever thankful.
To the fans, I wish I could write each and every one of you, because that's how much you all mean to me. You have literally been there every step of the way, from my first collegiate points until my last. You've seen me at my highest moments, and most certainly my lowest. While at Pitt, you all are whom made me feel the most at home. Most athletes are under the impression that fans are only supportive as long as you're an asset to the team. That couldn't be farther from the truth. You care. You care about me as a human being, not a player, and for that you guys will forever have my sincere love and appreciation.
To my coaches, teammates, and staff members, you're the glue that held me together. I know we've only known each other for a couple of years and some for only this season, but it feels we've been together since the first day I walked on campus. The memories that were made along the way will forever be cherished. I am so blessed to have made friendships with my teammates that will last me a lifetime, and relationships with my coaches that I can always count on. Not only have you've helped me through some of my most difficult moments in life, but you've taught me an invaluable lesson, God always has a plan. For that, I am forever indebted to you all.
What a year it has been. It's funny how life works isn't it? We had our eyes set on something this program has been aiming for since my freshmen year, success. Yet, ironically, I feel we have achieved that and much more. We have built a foundation that will forever set the stage for some remarkable years to come. Remember, God has a plan and I can't wait to see it unfold.
Lastly, to my parents. I love you. I appreciate you. You are the reason I am here today. Without you two none of this would be possible. You want to talk about true supporters? Albert and Jennifer Bugg are truly my number one fans. You are my friends when I need somebody to talk to and my parents when I need guidance. You both have been a crucial part of my growth because you gave me the confidence and strength to push through everything.
Though there have been times where we didn't see eye to eye, I want you to know I have the upmost respect and admiration for you. There's no amount of words I could say that would truly express my gratitude for all you've done for me.
This may be the end of this chapter, but the story is just beginning.
Sincerely,
Aysia Bugg
