Baseball Falls 4-1 to Ohio State

VENICE, Fla. – Pitt baseball (2-1) fell 4-1 to Ohio State (1-1) Saturday night at CoolToday Park. The Panthers were limited to just two hits in the game.
"For me, the story of the game was Ohio State's starting pitcher Seth Lonsway," said Pitt head coach Mike Bell. "The power lefty was throwing 92-95 mph with a big league curveball. You have to give credit where credit is due, he was dominant. We showed a lot of grit and toughness by pitching out of a couple self-induced jams by Mitch Myers and Mason Ronan to keep it a close game, and Adam Bloebaum was great in the eighth inning."
The Panthers claimed an initial lead in their first trip to the plate. Jordan Anderson and Nico Popa drew consecutive walks, and Ron Washington, Jr. drove in Anderson with a two-out single through the left side.
The Buckeyes quickly tied it up with a RBI-groundout in the bottom of the inning. They took the lead on consecutive doubles to start the fourth inning and added to it in the sixth on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and RBI-fielder's choice.
"I'm looking forward to see how we bounce back tomorrow against another outstanding opponent in undefeated Iowa," said Bell.
