Pitt Set To Host Duke On Thursday On The ACC Network

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team returns home on Thursday night for their second ACC Network game of the season as they welcome the Duke Blue Devils to the Petersen Events Center for a 6:00 pm tip. Brett Dolan (play-by-play) and LaChina Robinson (analyst) will be on the call for the game on Thursday night.

- This meeting marks the 12th meeting of all-time between the two programs with Duke winning all 11 of the previous meetings.
- Duke won both contests a season ago including a game in the first round of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.
- The Blue Devils are 3-0 all-time against Pitt in games played in Pittsburgh.
- The Duke Blue Devils enter Thursday night's game with a 13-10 overall record and a 7-5 ACC mark. The Blue Devils have won two straight and four of their last five overall.
- Duke is being led this season by the due-it-all guard Haley Gorecki who is averaging team-highs in minutes (36.4), points (18.1), rebounds (6.7), assists (4.3) and steals (2.2). She is the only player in the ACC leading her team in all of those categories.
- Leonna Odom is having a strong season for the Blue Devils as she is averaging 13.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals while Miela Goodchild is averaging 8.5 points and has connected on 38 three-pointers.
- As a team, Duke is averaging 67.6 points while allowing 63.7 points/ game. They are grabbing an average of 38.7 rebounds/game while allowing their opponents to grab 36.5 rebounds/ game.
- After a great first quarter that saw Pitt leading Notre Dame 17-14, the Panthers offense went cold down the stretch as they dropped the road game to the Irish, 74-52.
- The Panthers were led offensively by freshman Amber Brown who netted a career-high 17 points, seven rebounds and a career-high five assists while Dayshanette Harris chipped in with 14 points and three steals in just 19 minutes.
- As a team, Pitt was outrebounded 50-43 while the Fighting Irish also shot 41.9% from the floor in the win.
- Entering the 2019-20 campaign, the Panthers knew they were going to have to rely heavily on a handful of newcomers to make an impact and they have done a nice job so far this season.
- The six newcomers for the Pitt are averaging a combined 40.2 points and 27.1 rebounds per game so far this season.
- The newcomers are accounting for 69.4% of the Panthers scoring efforts this season and 66.1% of the rebounding efforts.
- The freshman duo of Dayshanette Harris and Amber Brown have combined to score 19.6 points per game, the second best freshman duo in the ACC behind Notre Dame's duo of Sam Brunelle and Anaya Peoples (26.2 ppg).
- The freshman duo of Brown and Rita Igbokwe are currently lead all ACC freshman duos in combined rebounds (15.1 rpg). The duo is currently ranks second in the NCAA for freshman duos combined rebounds/game, trailing only a duo from UC Santa Barbara (16.0 rpg).
- Brown and Igbokwe are one of two duos of freshman teammates in the NCAA averaging at least 7.0 rpg each (Oregon State).
- Pitt and Virginia are the only teams in the ACC with three freshman (Harris, Brown, Hayford) who are averaging at least 20.0 mpg on the season.
- Junior college transfer Gabbie Green has made a big impact on the court for Pitt this season, especially from behind the arc.
- So far this season, Green has connected on a team-high 45 three-pointers while shooting 31.0% from behind the arc.
- She currently sits in 17th place on the single season three-pointers made charts and fifth on the single season three-pointer list for juniors.

- Pitt returns to the road on Sunday afternoon as they head to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on the Orange at 1:00 pm inside the Carrier Dome. Sunday's game will be Syracuse's Pink Game as the Panthers will wear their pink uniforms to raise awareness for breast cancer.
