Panthers to Host Five Home Meets
PITTSBURGH – Five home meets highlight the 2021 University of Pittsburgh gymnastics season, as announced by fourth-year head coach Samantha Snider Thursday.
The Panthers will host two tri meets and three dual meets at Fitzgerald Field House.
Following a season-opening road dual at NC State (Jan. 15), Pitt will host its home opener against George Washington and Kent State (Jan. 24). The next weekend, Panthers will stay in Pittsburgh for a tri meet against NC State and Towson (Jan. 31).
Pitt will return to Raleigh, N.C., for a quad meet at NC State (Feb. 6) before hosting Temple in a dual on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14).
The Panthers will travel on back-to-back weekends for quad meets at Towson (Feb. 19) and LIU (Feb. 28), respectively.
Pitt will conclude the 2021 regular season with three consecutive duals against rival West Virginia, with the first two in Pittsburgh and the final in Morgantown, W.Va. The Panthers will hold meetings at Fitzgerald Field House March 5 and 12, while the Mountaineers will play host March 14.
The now-expanded East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships will take place March 20, welcoming league newcomers LIU and Temple to the fold. The location for the eight-team competition will be announced at a later date.
The National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Regionals are set for April 1-3 at pre-determined locations, while the Championships will be hosted in Fort Worth, Texas, April 16-17.
Information regarding possible fan attendance at 2021 Pitt gymnastics meets will be announced at a later date.
Under current regulations from the Governor's office for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania set to last until at least 8 a.m. on January 4, 2021, Pitt would not be permitted to host fans at the Fitzgerald Field House.
