
No. 2 Pitt Hosts Virginia Tech Saturday Night

PITTSBURGH – The second-ranked Pitt men's soccer team is set to host ACC foe Virginia Tech Saturday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Kick-off is set for 7 PM.

- The Hokies finished 4-4-2 away from Thompson Field in 2019.
- Virginia Tech returns top returners from the 2019 season that saw them reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Freshman Bertin Jacquesson lifted the Panthers over Syracuse, 3-2, in double OT Tuesday, Oct. 6 with a golden goal in the 103rd minute. The score was the Frenchman's first game-winner of his career.
- Sophomore Veljko Petkovic recorded two goals, his first multi-score game of his career, while Jacquesson, sophomore Arturo Ordoñez and senior Alexander Dexter each tallied an assist.
- With an assist Tuesday at Syracuse, senior Alexander Dexter is now tied for second in program history with 14 career assists.
- The Bronx, N.Y., native is tied with Dave Reichenbach (1962-1964) and Mark Nigh (1975-78) at second, and sits 12 assists back from Eric Prex's (1991-94) all-time record of 26 career assists.
- With road victories at No. 5 Notre Dame and Syracuse, the Panthers begin the season 2-0 for the first time since 2010.
- The win over Syracuse marks the first time in school history Pitt begins the ACC season 1-0. The Panthers joined the ACC in 2013.
- It is the first time since 2002 the Panthers won their first two road games of the season.
- Pitt moved up to No. 2 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll on Sept. 29.
- The number two ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Poll is the highest ranking in program history (since 1996).
- Pitt moved from number four to number two after its 3-1 victory over No. 5 Notre Dame on Sept. 26.
