- Pitt improved to 3-0 overall, marking the first time since 2010 the Panthers have won their first three contests on the season.
- It is the first time in program history the Panthers have started the ACC season 2-0 (first ACC season – 2013)
- Graduate student Jasper Löeffelsend and freshman Bertin Jacquesson each tallied three assists, which individually tied for second all-time in single-game program history for assists in a game.
- Sophomore Valentin Noel scored twice, his first multi-score game of his career.
The Hokies answered 11 minutes later, as Kristo Strickler knotted the game up at one all. After ten minutes had gone by, Noel scored his first goal of the night courtesy of Löeffelsend and Jacquesson. The Niort, France, native took a direct pass from Löeffelsend and hit the upper right hand corner of the net, putting Pitt back up one.
The score remained 2-1 at half. Both teams were tied 6-6 in shots while Pitt led in corners, 3-0.
Senior Alexander Dexter quickly extended the Pitt lead in the second half, scoring his second goal of the 2020 campaign at the 48:24 mark. Jacquesson and Löeffelsend once again passed it among each other to find the goal scorer, this time it being Dexter as the Panthers led 3-1.
With five minutes left to play, Virginia Tech made it a one score game as Strickler scored his second goal of the night, closing the gap to a 3-2 Pitt advantage. The Panthers responded with a late 89th minute goal, as Noel netted his second goal of the night courtesy of Petkovic and Jacquesson.

Graduate student Nico Campuzano secured his third win inside the pipes for the Panthers, totaling a career-best six saves, including four in the second half.
"I thought Virginia Tech was great and they controlled too much of the game for my liking," said Head Coach Jay Vidovich. "However, our actions to goal were class. The way we produced our goals was that of a big time team. Really excited we got the win, especially against a team like Virginia Tech. They asked a lot of questions of us tonight."
The Panthers hit the road for a two-game road stand beginning Friday, Oct. 16 against Virginia. Start time is set for 6 PM on the ACC Network.
