Pitt To Host #14 Florida State On Saturday For 13th Annual Pink The Pete Game

PITTSBURGH – After a thrilling come-from-behind victory on Thursday night at the Pete, the Pitt women's basketball team returns home on Saturday afternoon to take on #14 Florida State in the 13th Annual Pink The Petersen Game at 5:00 pm.

- Saturday's game will be the 13th Annual Pink The Petersen Game hosted by the Panthers as they will raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. A portion of every ticket sold on Saturday will be donated to Susan G. Komen of Pittsburgh.
- Pink The Pete t-shirts, Pink The Pete Roc Bobblehead and pink shakers will be handed out at the door to fans in attendance on Saturday.
- Saturday evening's game against #14 Florida State will air on ACC Network Extra and can be streamed HERE.
- Fans can also listen to the game on the radio by tuning into 1320 AM WJAS. The voice of the Pitt women's basketball team, Josh Rowntree, will get you started with the pregame show at 4:45 pm followed by the call of the game at 5:00 pm. Listen to the call HERE.

- This meeting marks the seventh all-time between the two programs with Florida State owning the 6-0 record over Pitt.
- The Seminoles handed Pitt a 78-46 defeat last season down in Tallahassee.
- Florida State is 3-0 in games played in Pittsburgh all-time.
- The first meeting between the two teams came on Jan. 2, 2014.
- The Florida State Seminoles enter Saturday evening's game ranked 14th in the country and own a 17-4 overall record and a 6-4 ACC mark. The Seminoles fell last time out to Boston College, 65-56.
- Florida State is led offensively by Kiah Gillespie who is averaging 33.9 minutes, 15.4 points and 8.7 rebounds while connecting on 29 three-pointers.
- Nausia Woolfolk is enjoying a nice season as she is averaging 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a team-high 1.9 steals while connecting on 44.6% of her shots.
- Nicki Ekhomu is averaging 14.3 points and a team-high 4.8 assists while connecting on 33.7% of her three-point attempts.
- As a team, Florida State is averaging 74.7 points while allowing 59.8 points/game. They grab an average of 40.9 rebounds/game so far this season.
- Pitt returns home on Saturday at 5:00 pm as they welcome #14 Florida State for their 13th An- nual Pink The Petersen Game to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.
- Freshman point guard Dayshanette Harris has made huge strides in ACC play for the Panthers as she has led the team in scoring in three straight games while scoring in double figures in each game. The freshman is averaging a team-high 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals in ACC play.
- The freshman duo of Amber Brown and Rita Igbokwe are combining to average 15.5 rpg, the second best freshman rebounding duo in the NCAA.
- The Panthers collected their first ACC victory of the season on Thursday night at the Pete as they erased a 12-point third quarter deficit to hand Wake Forest the 53-48 victory.
- Pitt used stingy defense and timely scoring to secure their second straight win over the Demon Deacons.
- Dayshanette Harris led all scorers with 13 points, all in the second half, to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals while Gabbie Green netted 12 points and seven boards.
- As a team, the Panthers held the Demon Deacons to just 25.8% shooting while winning the rebounding battle 46-45 and forcing 16 Wake Forest turnovers.
- Entering the 2019-20 campaign, the Panthers knew they were going to have to rely heavily on a handful of newcomers to make an impact and they have done a nice job so far this season.
- The six newcomers for the Pitt are averaging a combined 40.2 points and 27.5 rebounds per game so far this season.
- The newcomers are accounting for 67.4% of the Panthers scoring efforts this season and 65.9% of the rebounding efforts.
- The freshman duo of Dayshanette Harris and Amber Brown have combined to score 19.7 points per game, the second best freshman duo in the ACC behind Notre Dame's duo of Sam Brunelle and Anaya Peoples (26.8 ppg).
- The freshman duo of Brown and Rita Igbokwe are currently lead all ACC freshman duos in combined rebounds (15.5 rpg). The duo is currently ranks second in the NCAA for freshman duos combined rebounds/game, trailing only a duo from UC Santa Barbara (15.9 rpg).
- Brown and Igbokwe are one of two duos of freshman teammates in the NCAA averaging at least 6.9 rpg each (Oregon State).
- Pitt and Virginia are the only teams in the ACC with three freshman (Harris, Brown, Emy Hayford) who are averaging at least 20.0 mpg on the season.
- Pitt will wrap up their three-game homestand on Thursday night at 7:00 pm as Georgia Tech comes to town for an ACC showdown.
