
Pitt Baseball to Host Walk-On Tryouts Sept. 11

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team will host walk-on tryouts at Charles Cost Field Wednesday, Sept. 11 starting 3 p.m. Pitt students interested in trying out must sign up and complete the necessary clearance and physical forms prior to Sept. 8.
Sign up and forms are available in the baseball offices located on the third floor of Fitzgerald Field House. Additional information or questions regarding walk-on tryouts can be directed to Director of Player Development Drew Linder via email at dlinder@athletics.pitt.edu.
Pitt posted a 21 wins, including marquee victories over No. 11 North Carolina, No. 7 Georgia Tech and national powerhouse Florida State, in the inaugural season with the Panthers for head coach Mike Bell. Connor Perry and Nico Popa earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors, while Dan Hammer, Perry and Derek West were selected in the 2019 MLB Draft. Cole MacLaren also signed a free agent deal with the Detroit Tigers following the season.
The Panthers open fall team practices Monday, Sept. 9 and will play a pair of fall games against Division I opponents before playing a three-game intrasquad Blue-Gold World Series. A complete fall schedule with opponents, dates and first pitch times will be released at a later date.
