Drew Linder was named Pitt baseball’s Director of Player Development in August of 2018 by head coach Mike Bell.
In his role, Linder oversees all technology, analytics, and data collection and implementation for individual player development. In addition, he coordinates all the on-campus recruiting efforts for Panther baseball.
Linder joined the Panthers after spending the 2018 summer league season with the YD Red Sox of the prestigious Cape Cod League, where he served as an assistant coach for the regular season champions. During his summer in the Cape, he was responsible for the day to day management of the pitching staff.
In his two years prior to Pitt, Linder held several positions with USA Baseball. In the summer of 2016, he served on the Task Force and Evaluation Staff for the Tournament of the Stars, selecting the top talent from around the country to represent the U18 National Team. In the same summer, he was also on the Selection Staff for the National Team Identification Series (NTIS), identifying and selecting players for the following year’s USA Developmental Programs.
In 2017 Linder was named the Bullpen Coach for the Collegiate National Team under manager John Savage, where he assisted with the USA pitching staff and the roster selections for the team.
The Collegiate National Team went on to win all three of the International Series against Taiwan, Cuba and Japan. During the summer of 2017, the USA held a 15-5 record and had a team ERA of 2.15.
Linder was a four-year member of the Florida State baseball program, serving as the bullpen coordinator and assisting with the Seminoles’ pitching staff. He was a member of three ACC Champion Seminoles squads and also worked with the program’s baseball operations and camp efforts.
A native of St. Augustine, Fla., Linder graduated from Florida State in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. Linder currently resides in Cranberry, Pa. with his wife, Miranda.

What is your favorite thing to do in the city of Pittsburgh?
My favorite thing in Pittsburgh is sporting events. The passion and desire to win this city has for their sports teams cannot be compared to any other city in the United States. The fans create an unbelievable experience for the athletes.
What do you love most about working in athletics?
The opportunity to help put our student athletes in the best possible position to be successful on and off the field. Whether that be assisting them in setting and achieving their goals during their four years on campus, or guiding them through real life scenarios. We are a small part of their journey through life, and assisting them in growth and development during their time here at Pitt is a satisfying feeling as a staff member.
What is your favorite part of working in Pitt’s athletic department?
My favorite part of working in this athletic department is being around a group of people that are that are always finding ways to better our athletic programs. They are never satisfied with mediocre and strive to create the perfect environment for the student athletes and everyone involved.
