Boissonneault Heads to Canada for 2019 Women’s Lacrosse U19 World Championship

Pitt’s Head Coach to Serve as Assistant Coach for U19 Team
PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh head lacrosse coach Emily Boissonneault will serve as an assistant coach on the Canadian Women's U19 Field Lacrosse Team for the 2019 Women's Lacrosse U19 World Championship.
The Championship will be held in Peterborough, Ontario, and is set for Aug. 1-10. A native of Ontario, Canada, Boissonneault will head back to her home country Saturday, July 27 to begin practices with Team Canada prior to the start of competition.
The Atlantic Coast Conference will have a strong representation at the Championship as current Louisville head coach Scott Teeter leads the squad for the third time. Assistant coach Kaylin Morissette is also on the coaching staff at Louisville.

Canada will look to defend its 2015 World Lacrosse title at these games. Other competing countries include: Australia, Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, England, Germany, Haundenosaunee, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Chinese Taipei, USA and Wales.
Pool play begins Thursday, Aug 1., however Canada (Pool A) will not compete until Friday, Aug. 2. Canada's preliminary round schedule can be found below.
Friday, Aug. 2: Canada vs. England, 8 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 3: Australia vs. Canada, 5 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 4: Canada vs. USA, 8 p.m.
The playoff round begins Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 9 a.m. For the complete schedule, click here.
Boissonneault was announced as the first head lacrosse coach in Pitt history Friday, June 28, 2019, after spending the past four seasons at James Madison. While at JMU, Boissonneault helped guide the Dukes to three Colonial Athletic Association [CAA] Conference Championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2018 National Champinoship.
Boissonneault represented her country in 2013 and 2017 as a member of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup Canadian National Team, as well as the 2017 World Games in Poland. Boissonneault helped guide Team Canada to the silver medals in all three tournaments, marking the best international finishes in Canada's lacrosse history.
