
Pitt Welcomes #3 Louisville On Sunday For Senior Day At The Pete

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team (11-18, 2-13 ACC) will welcome the #3 Louisville Cardinals to the Petersen Events Center on Sunday afternoon as the Panthers will be honoring their four-player senior class prior to the game. The four seniors being honored before the game will be Danielle Garven, Kalista Walters, Kauai Bradley and Cassidy Walsh. Tip is set for 2:00 pm.

- The Panthers pride themselves on forcing turnovers and they have done a great job of doing that in ACC play as they are forcing an average of 16.9 turnovers/game and rank fourth in the conference notching 9.3 steals/game in ACC contests.
- With the win, Pitt improved to 10-1 on the season when scoring 60+ points.
- Pitt also owns a perfect 7-0 record this season when shooting at least 45% from the floor and a 10-1 record when shooting a higher percentage from the floor than their opponent.
- The Panthers (11-18, 2-13 ACC) used a strong second half to surge past the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on the road, 70-64. The win marked the Panthers first road ACC vicory of the season.
- Pitt was great in the open court on Thursday night as they were able to outscore the Demon Deacons 23-7 in fast break scoring.
- Senior Danielle Garven continued her strong play for the Panthers in the win as she led Pitt in scoring for the sixth straight game as she netted 21 points, five rebounds and four steals across 34 minutes of work. The 21-point effort marked the fourth 20+ game for Garven this season and her second straight.
- Junior point guard Jasmine Whitney had another huge game for Pitt in the win as she was able to secure her second career double-double. Whitney finished off her impressive game with 19 points, a career-high 12 assists, six rebounds and three steals in 37 minutes of action. With her 12 assists, Whitney moved into 10th place on the Panthers all-time assists charts with 352 career assists.
- The Panthers were able to outshoot the Demon Deacons 45% to 37.3% for the game while also forcing 24 Wake Forest turnovers in the victory.
- The Louisville Cardinals enter Sunday's game as the #3 team in the nation as they have accumulated a 26-2 overall record and a 13-2 ACC mark. The Cardinals are coming off of an 92-62 victory over nationally-ranked NC State on Thursday night.
- Louisville is being led offensively this season by one of the best players in the nation, Asia Durr. The senior is averaging an ACC-best 21.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals while connecting on 80 triples on the season and shooting 45.2% from the floor.
- Dana Evans is having a strong season off the Louisville bench as she ranks second on the team averaging 10.6 points while also leading the team in assists, averaging 4.0 helpers/game. Senior Sam Fuehring is enjoying a strong final campaign as she is averaging 10.4 points and a team-high 7.0 assists while shooting 53.5% from the floor.
- As a team, the Cardinals rank second in the ACC in scoring offense (79.6 ppg) while also leading the conference in scoring defense (59.3 ppg). Louisville also leads the ACC in three-point field goal percentage as they are connecting on 38.2% of their triple attempts.
- The Cardinals are coached by Jeff Walz who is in his 12th season at the helm of Louisville. The energetic Walz has accumulated a career head coaching record of 325-98, all at Louisville.
- After Sunday's game, the Panthers will enter the ACC Tournament as the #14 seed and will take on the #11 seed on Mar. 6 at 6:30 pm inside the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC.
