Panthers Continue Road Swing At #18 Syracuse On Thursday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team (10-17, 1-12 ACC) will play the middle game of a three-game road trip on Thursday night as they head to Syracuse to take on the #18 Orange inside the Carrier Dome. Tip is set for 7:00 pm on Thursday night.

- Thursday night's game at #18 Syracuse will broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra or on WatchESPN/WatchESPN app.

- The Panthers will be looking for their first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent since Mar. 21, 2015 when they downed #17 Chattanooga.
- The Key number for the Panthers offense this season has been 60 as when they score at least 60 points in a game, they own a perfect 9-0 record this season.
- Pitt also owns a perfect 6-0 record this season when shooting at least 45% from the floor and a 9-1 record when shooting a higher percentage from the floor than their opponent.
- The Panthers (10-17, 1-12 ACC) weren't able to win their second straight ACC game on Sunday afternoon as #21 Florida State pulled away late and downed Pitt 78-46.
- The Seminoles had a hot-shooting day from the floor on Sunday as they connected on 49.1% of their shots and outrebounded the Panthers 44-29.
- Senior Danielle Garven continued her strong play for the Panthers in the loss as she led the team in scoring for the fourth straight game. The senior netted 14 points and three rebounds across 33 minutes of work.
- Sophomore center Cara Judkins made an impact down low for the Panthers on Sunday as she finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds in 26 minutes.
- Jasmine Whitney continued her steady play at the point for Pitt as she finished with eight points, a team-high three assists, three steals and two rebounds while playing a team-high 36 minutes.
- As a team, Florida State was able to turn 17 Panthers turnovers into 24 points while Pitt was only able to score eight points off of 15 Seminoles turnovers.
- The Syracuse Orange enter Thursday night's game against the Panthers as the #18 team in the nation as they own a 19-6 overall record and a 8-4 ACC mark. Last time out, the Orange picked up the 77-57 victory over Wake Forest.
- Syracuse is led offensively by one of the best point guards in the country in Tiana Mangakahia. The junior is averaging a team-high 15.4 points, 8.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 steals. She currently leads the NCAA in assists/game (8.3) and has accumulated 512 across her two seasons with the Orange.
- Miranda Drummond currently ranks second on the team averaging 11.7 points and 4.6 rebounds while connecting on a team-high 70 three-pointers on the year, shooting 39.1% from behind the arc. Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi is enjoying a great season off the bench for the Orange as she is averaging 9.9 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting a team-best 55.4% from the floor.
- As a team, the Orange rank third in the ACC in scoring offense (77.5 ppg), fourth in rebounding offense (41.7 rpg), second in assists (18.1 apg) and third in steals (9.4).
- Syracuse is coached by Quentin Hillsman who is in his 13th season as head coach of the Orange. Hillsman currently owns a career head coaching record of 282-142 (.665). He has led the Orange to 11 straight postseason appearances including seven NCAA Tournament appearances.
- The Panthers will close out their road slate on Thursday, Feb. 28 as they head down to Winston-Salem, NC to take on Wake Forest at 7:00 pm.
- Pitt will then head home for their final regular season game of the season on Sunday, Mar. 3 as they welcome nationally-ranked Louisville for Senior Day at the Pete at 2:00 pm.
