
Pitt Gymnastics Earns Season-Best Road Score at West Virginia

Panthers Post Highest Bars Score of 2019 Season
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (6-7, 1-3 EAGL) achieved its best road score of the 2019 season with a 195.100 earned in a quad meet hosted by West Virginia Sunday afternoon at WVU Coliseum.
Another season-best score for Pitt occurred on bars, with five Panthers earning season- or career-high numbers. Junior Rachel Dugan and senior Lucy Brett led the way for Pitt, each recording a 9.850.
The Panthers came in third behind Utah State (196.075) and the Mountaineers (195.575). Pitt earned a win over Cornell (193.075).
Pitt's total score of 195.100 is its second-highest of the season, behind a 195.175 earned against George Washington at home (Jan. 26).
FLOOR
For the first time this season, Pitt competed in the floor exercise as its first rotation. Sophomore Jordan Ceccarini and freshman Kiley Robatin each posted 9.800, while senior Charli Spivey led the Panthers with a 9.850. Pitt totaled 48.850 for the first rotation.
VAULT
Junior Alecia Petrikis and sophomore Haley Brechwald were Pitt's top performers on vault, each earning a score of 9.800. Making her first vault appearance of the season, Ceccarini posted a 9.700. Overall, Pitt totaled 48.725 for a mark of 97.575 through two events.
BARS
Five Panthers earned season or career-high scores on bars, en route to the team's season-best score of 49.025 for the event. Career highs came for senior Krista Collins (9.725), freshman Olivia Miller (9.825) and Dugan (9.850). Brechwald (9.775) and Brett (9.850) each earned season-high scores. Through three events, Pitt had 146.600 points.
BEAM
The Panthers completed the meet on beam, with Brechwald and Brett earning team-best scores of 9.750. Robatin followed with a 9.725, and Deven Herbine rounded out Pitt's top scores with a 9.700. Pitt totaled 48.500, reaching a final total of 195.100.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will complete their home slate with a Senior Day tri-meet against West Virginia and Ball State Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House. The meet will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, available via the WatchESPN app.
