Panthers Drop Second Matchup to Badgers
RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team dropped its second matchup against Wisconsin in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, falling 8-0 in five innings Saturday night in Raleigh, N.C.
Redshirt sophomore Brittany Knight started on the rubber for Pitt, seeing 4.2 innings of action while allowing eight earned runs and striking out one.
Two Panthers recorded hits on the day, with junior Walker Barbee going 1-for-1 at the plate while senior Marissa DeMatteo posted a 1-for-2 effort.
SCORING SUMMARY
The Badgers had their bats going from the opening inning, collecting two runs in the first frame off of a leadoff home run to center field and a sac bunt.
Wisconsin added three more runs in the second frame, with a bases-loaded double to right field clearing the bags.
The Badgers added another run in the third off of a double through the left side with a runner on before collecting two more runs in the fifth inning, enacting the run-rule and ending the game.

The Panthers will close out the ACC/Big Ten Challenge with a contest against Nebraska at 10 a.m.
