Akeo Claims Final ACC Freshman of the Week Honor

Hawaii Native Extends Program Record
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Setter Lexis Akeo of the No. 2 Pitt volleyball team (29-1, 18-0) has earned the final ACC Freshman of the Week honor of the 2019 regular season, as announced by the conference Sunday.
The award is Akeo's eighth of the season, marking a Pitt volleyball record.
The Kapolei, Hawaii, native led the 2019 ACC Champions with a match-high 47 assists against Louisville Wednesday, Nov. 27, as the Panthers closed the regular season with a perfect 18-0 record in conference play. Pitt became the first team to go unbeaten in ACC play since Georgia Tech went 16-0 in 2004.
Akeo posted a near double-double against the Cardinals with nine digs to go along with her 47 assists, while recording two blocks and one service ace.
Up next, No. 2 Pitt will learn its seed for the 2019 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship during the Selection Show, set for 8:30 p.m. ET Sunday on ESPNU. The Panthers earned the ACC's Automatic Qualifier Bid to the tournament.
