Women’s Soccer Adds Nyla Allen to 2020 Recruiting Class

PITTSBURGH – Pitt women's soccer has added Nyla Allen to its 2020 recruiting class, head coach Randy Waldrum announced Thursday. Allen joins six others who signed on Wednesday: Eva Frankovic, Ione Fetsko, Hannah Knych, Chloe Minas, Chantelle Parker and Emily Yaple.

Has played for the Jamaican National Under-17 Team with appearances in international friendlies against Costa Rica … A four-year starter at Elmont Memorial High School … Earned Team MVP twice and served as a captain the last two years … Named the Nassau County Girls Soccer Association AB6 Conference Player of the Year this fall, the all-county team twice and to the all-conference team each year … Ranked in the top-10 in points in Nassau County the last three years, combining to score 69 goals in those three seasons … Ranked as the No. 12 player in the state of New York by Top Drawer Soccer … Was on the U.S. Youth Futsal National U-13 Team, helping the squad reach a regional final in 2016 … Attended monthly U.S. Soccer National Training Centers from 2014-17 … Played for the SUSA FC Academy ('02 ECNL), helping it make the NYCSL State Cup Championship Game in 2016 … Runner-up in the U.S. Futsal Regional in 2016 … Played in the ECNL 2002 Playoffs in the championship division … Also ran track at Elmont … Member of the Key Club … Selected to the Principal's List and High Honor Roll as an AP/Honors/Advanced student … Plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy.

Waldrum on Allen:
"Nyla is a midfield player that we first identified through one of our ID camps on campus. She caught our eye with a dynamic ability on the ball and possesses a creativity and flair that is rare among young players. Nyla will be a good addition to our midfield and an even better fit with the way we want to play. She's another exciting player that our fans will enjoy watching. Also, she's similar to Chantelle with some international experience having been a part of the U-17 Jamaican national team, which will only help our program."
