PITTSBURGH – The No. 4 Pitt volleyball team (13-1, 2-0 ACC) will begin a four-match road swing at Miami (6-4, 2-0) Friday at 6 p.m. at James L. Knight Sports Complex.

- Give the Panthers a 3-0 record in ACC play for the fourth consecutive season.
- Improve Pitt's record to 10-4 all-time against Miami and 5-2 when playing in Coral Gables.
- Extend the Panthers' winning streak against the Hurricanes to seven matches. Pitt's last loss against Miami came Nov. 14, 2014, at home (3-0). The Panthers have won the last three meetings in Coral Gables, with their last loss coming Oct. 11, 2013 (3-0).
- Improve the Panthers' record to 31-2 when ranked inside the AVCA top 10 and 4-1 when ranked inside the top five.
LAST TIME OUT
- No. 4 Pitt earned its second consecutive sweep to open ACC play, defeating Virginia Tech in straight sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-18) at Fitzgerald Field House Sunday evening.
- Junior outside hitter Kayla Lund led the Panthers with a match-high 12 kills on .385 hitting. She added eight digs and two blocks. Senior middle Layne Van Buskirk and junior Chinaza Ndee recorded eight kills apiece. Sophomore middle Sabrina Starks posted six kills and a match-high four blocks for Pitt.
- Redshirt senior libero Hali Hillegas produced 11 digs, and three-time ACC Freshman of the Week Lexis Akeo led Pitt with 33 assists. She added seven digs and two kills for the Panthers.
- Pitt held the Hokies to a .084 hitting percentage while posting a .354 clip as a team. The Panthers had the advantage in kills (46-25), assists (42-25), service aces (3-2), digs (43-32) and blocks (5.5-3.0).
HOLDING STEADY
- For the second consecutive week, the Panthers earned a No. 4 ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll, as announced Monday afternoon. The ranking is Pitt's highest in program history.
- The ranking marks the 16th week in program history that Pitt has landed among the top 10 programs in the NCAA, and the third week ever in the top five.
- The Panthers are 30-2 all-time when ranked inside the top 10, and 3-1 when ranked in the top five.
WILLIAMS NAMED CANDIDATE FOR SENIOR CLASS AWARD®
- Pitt redshirt senior outside hitter Stephanie Williams has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award®. She is the lone candidate representing the Atlantic Coast Conference.
- To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
- An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
SCOUTING MIAMI
- Miami (6-4, 2-0) is riding a four-match win streak into Friday's match against No. 4 Pitt. The Hurricanes have taken down their first two ACC opponents on the road, at Wake Forest (Sept. 28, 3-0) and Duke (Sept. 29, 3-1).
- Friday will mark the Hurricanes' ACC home opener.
- Miami's last loss came Sept. 20, at home against FGCU (3-0). The Hurricanes are 2-1 when playing at James L. Knight Sports Complex so far this year.
- Kennedy Price leads Miami with 3.51 kills per set, and Elizaveta Lukianov contributes 3.15 per frame.
- ACC Freshman of the Week Savannah Vach averages a team-high 10.6 assists per set.
UP NEXT
- The Panthers will play their fifth match against a ranked opponent when they visit No. 23 Florida State Sunday in Tallahassee, Fla. The match will be televised at noon ET on ACC Network.
