HOW IT HAPPENED
- Krystyna Rytel had Pitt's first shot of the game in the 12th minute, making a move to evade two NC State defenders and sending a shot from just outside of the box a foot over the cross bar.
- Rytel's next shot from the opposite side of the box hit the cross bar the next time in the 20th minute, but Lopez headed the ball into the left side of the net over the leaping goalkeeper after it bounced off the ground. Juliana Vazquez also received an assist.
- The Panthers doubled their lead 10 minutes later. After Aideen O'Donoghue made contact with a free kick sent from midfield by Kate McKay, Kardesler sent a volley from just inside the left side of the box that tucked into the left post.
- NC State scored its lone goal off a corner kick, with a Wolfpack player heading the ball over to Hall-Robinson for another header into the net.
- A NC State forward missed a shot from only a few yards out in front of her with no one around or in front of the net to make a save in the 50th minute.
- Pena had a diving save from a point-blank shot in the 61st minute, which was the fifth save in a nine-minute span.
- The Panthers secured its second ACC victory to cap off a three-game homestand.
- The eight conference points so far this year are the second-most the Panthers have had in a single-season (12 in 2015) in seven years in the ACC.
- Pitt has defeated NC State three times as conference opponents.
- NC State finished with a 25-5 shots and 7-0 corner kicks advantage.
- Both of Pitt's shots on goals were converted into goals.
- The Panthers head on the road to take on Wake Forest next Thursday at 7 p.m.
