Panthers Looking for Second Consecutive EAGL Win
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (5-2, 1-1 EAGL) will debut Pitt Retro leotards when they host North Carolina (4-2, 1-1 EAGL) and Temple (5-6, 0-0 ECAC) for a tri-meet Friday at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House.

LAST TIME OUT
- Three Panthers earned individual titles as Pitt picked up its first East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) win of the season, defeating George Washington, 195.175-194.625, Saturday afternoon at Fitzgerald Field House.
- Pitt earned season-high scores on bars (48.550), beam (48.800) and floor (48.925) in addition to a season-best total score of 195.175.
- The Panthers outscored the Colonials on vault (48.900-48.675) and bars (48.550-48.200), while tying on floor (48.925). George Washington had the slight edge on beam (48.825-48.800).
- Freshman Olivia Miller earned the first vault title of her career, tying for the victory at 9.800 with GW's Cydney Crasa. Junior Rachel Dugan posted her first individual title of the season, winning bars with a season-high 9.800. Senior Brittany West rounded out Pitt's trio of individual wins by earning her second of the year on beam, landing a 9.850 to tie with GW's Alexandra Zois.
THE "VAULT" IN OUR STARS
- With an average team score of 48.700, Pitt leads the EAGL on vault. The Panthers earned a season-high score of 48.950 in the season opener (Jan. 12) in Pittsburgh.
- Sophomore Haley Brechwald ranks second in the league lead with an average score of 9.808. She earned an individual win in the event at New Hampshire (Jan. 18) with 9.800.
- Teammate Alecia Petrikis ranks fourth in the conference at 9.792 and tied Brechwald for the event win at UNH.
RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Following a home win against George Washington on Saturday, Pitt moved up to No. 31 in the nation according to RoadToNationals.com.
- The Panthers remain in third in the EAGL with an average team score of 194.550, behind North Carolina (194.658) and NC State (194.619).
PITT VERSUS NORTH CAROLINA
- Friday will be the 42nd all-time meeting between Pitt and North Carolina, with the Tar Heels holding a 29-12 advantage in the series.
- The Panthers won the last meeting between the programs, when the teams faced off at the 2018 EAGL Championship (195.475-194.775)
- Pitt is 3-5 all-time when hosting the Tar Heels in Pittsburgh.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
- Despite falling to in-state rival NC State last time out (195.200-194.650), North Carolina (4-2, 1-1 EAGL) leads the EAGL with an average score of 194.658.
- Junior Mikayla Robinson was named the EAGL Specialist of the Week on Tuesday following her performance against the Wolfpack, where she earned a career-high 9.900 on vault to tie for first with teammate Khazia Hislop.
- The Tar Heels rank No. 28 in the nation according to RoadToNationals.com and lead the EAGL with an average floor score of 48.083. Hislop is the league leader on vault (9.817) and floor (9.892).
PITT VERSUS TEMPLE
- The Panthers last met the Owls just two weeks ago at a quad meet hosted by New Hampshire (Jan. 18). Pitt came out on top, 193.725-191.850.
- Pitt is 22-9 all-time against Temple, holding a 12-4 advantage when competing against the Owls in Pittsburgh.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
- Last time out, the Owls won their home-opening quad meet against Penn, Ithaca and Ursinus in Philadelphia. Temple posted the highest team score of the meet on all four events, sweeping the podium on vault and bars and going one-two on beam and floor.
- Under first year head coach Jason Nilson, the Owls are off to a 5-6 start to the season with a high score of 194.700, earned at the Little Boston Invitational against Towson and Penn State (Jan. 12).

- Pitt will travel to face EAGL opponent NC State Saturday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C.
