
Panthers Open Up Home ACC Slate On Sunday Against Boston College

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (9-7, 0-2 ACC) will return home for their first of four straight inside the Petersen Events Center on Sunday afternoon as they welcome the Boston College Eagles at 1:00 pm. The Panthers will honor former great Lorri Johnson at halftime on Sunday by retiring her #24 jersey as she will become the first Pitt women's basketball player to have her number retired.

- The Panthers (9-7, 0-2 ACC) were handed their second straight ACC road loss on Thursday night as #8 NC State defeated Pitt 63-34 inside Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.
- The stingy NC State defense made it difficult on the Panthers on Thursday as they limited Pitt to a season-low 34 points and a season-low 22.2% shooting from the floor.
- Senior Kauai Bradley finished the game as the Panthers leading scorer as she netted eight points, three rebounds and two steals in the loss.
- Making her 16th straight start, senior Cassidy Walsh finished off her night with five points and a team-high six rebounds while Cara Judkins netted six points and five boards in the loss.
- As a team, the Panthers were outrebounded 45-30 but they were able to force 14 turnovers and notched seven steals.
- The Boston College Eagles enter Sunday's game against the Panthers with a 12-4 overall record and a 1-2 ACC mark as they took down Wake Forest on the road last time out, 65-64.
- The Eagles are being led offensively this season by Emma Guy who is averaging 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 63.4% from the floor. Guy is averaging 23.9 minutes/game while grabbing a team-best 48 offensive rebounds,
- Makayla Dickens is enjoying a good start to her season as she is averaging 11.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while coming off the bench in 10 games. Taylor Ortlepp has starting all 16 games at point and is averaging 11.0 points and a team-high 3.8 assists while connecting on a team-best 39 three-pointers.
- As a team, the Eagles are averaging 78.8 points/game while holding their opponents to just 62.4 points/game. The Eagles are also shooting 44.1% from the floor while holding their opponents to 39.2% shooting on the year. On average, Boston College is outrebounding their opponents by 8.3 rebounds/game.
- Boston College is coached by first-year head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee who came to the Eagles after two strong seasons at Albany. She currently owns a 137-70 career record as a head coach.
- The Panthers will stay at home on Thursday night as they welcome nationally ranked Syracuse to the Petersen Events Center for a conference battle at 7:00 pm.
