#ProPanthers Update – 2018 Postseason Begins

PITTSBURGH – With the 2018 minor league regular season wrapped up, former University of Pittsburgh baseball players enter the postseason with their teams in hopes of capturing a league pennant.
In the first round of the Eastern League Postseason, former Panthers Hobie Harris and TJ Zeuch faced off against as the Trenton Thunder and New Hampshire Fisher Cats match-up against each other.
A 2015 31st-round pick of the New York Yankees, Harris, who was called up to Trenton on Aug. 23, has been sharp on the mound since joining the team. Since his call up, the former Panther has appeared in four games, allowing only two earned runs and striking out five in the process. Spending most of the season with the Advanced-A Tampa Tarpons, Harris has appeared in a total of 27 games this season, earning an impressive 2.66 ERA and striking out 55 in 47.1 innings.
Zeuch, a first-round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2016 draft, has been putting up impressive numbers for the Fisher Cats all season long. The righty earned another quality start in the first game against Trenton on Sept. 5, tossing 6.0 innings without allowing a run, while striking out five. In his 21 starts with New Hampshire this year, 12 of them have been quality appearances, including one complete game. A 2018 Eastern League All-Star, Zeuch was also named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 11.
Drafted in the 19th-round of the 2014 draft, Joe Harvey has been spectacular for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders since joining the team on April 24. Playing the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the first round of the International League Playoffs, Harvey was credited for the win in game one, shutting the door in the ninth inning. This season, the righty has appeared in 38 games, earning a 1.66 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, striking out 61 batters in 54.1 innings. Harvey also has been able to keep opposing batters off balance, as they are just averaging .174 off the of the former Panther.
In his first season at the professional level, RJ Freure has been dominant for the Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League. In 11 games this season with the ValleyCats, the sixth-round pick of the Houston Astros has been racking up impressive numbers, garnering a 0.98 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 27.2 innings. The righty has also made 29 batters whiff, allowing only 13 batters to reach first via the walk. Freure is looking to help Tri-City finish the season strong with a New York-Penn League Championship after the Valleycats defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to reach the championship series.
