Panthers Set Single-Meet Record in Final Home Competition
PITTSBURGH – Under first-year head coach Samantha Snider, the University of Pittsburgh gymnastics program shattered multiple home attendance records for the second-consecutive year.
The program eclipsed the single-meet attendance record, season average record and the overall attendance record after breaking all three in 2017, while increases in single-meet tickets sold and ticket revenue also occurred.
In its final home meet of the season against Penn State, West Virginia and Temple, Saturday, March 4, Pitt saw a sold-out crowd pack the Fitzgerald Field House, breaking its single-meet attendance record, featuring a 56 percent increase from 2017. The 2018 season average and overall attendance also saw improvements as both increased by 14 percent from last season.
Since 2016, all three categories have improved by 75 percent or better.
The Panthers also saw an increase of 82 percent in overall tickets sold from 2017 to 2018, while total ticket revenue increased by 67 percent.
Pitt will close out the 2018 regular season on the road as the squad heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., this weekend to face the Tar Heels before postseason competition arrives.
