PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team hosts No. 6 NC State in ACC action Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Field House.
The Panthers (2-8, 0-2 ACC) and Wolfpack (12-1, 2-0 ACC) clash for the fourth time in program history.

BURGH PROUD NIGHT
- Friday's theme is Burgh Proud Night to celebrate the city of Pittsburgh. Fans are encouraged to wear their best black and gold attire.
- The Pittsburgh Pirates mascot, the Pirate Parrot, will be in attendance as well as two Mrs. T's Pierogi mascots.
- The concession stand will feature a pierogi plate for $3, while the first 100 fans will receive a voucher for a free pierogi plate.
THE SERIES
- Pitt trails the all-time series, 3-1.
- NC State has been victorious in the past three meetings.
- The two teams first met in the 2014 season, resulting in a 27-7 win for the Panthers.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt fell to No. 25 North Carolina Friday, Jan. 26 in its first ACC road contest.
- The Panthers dropped a 26-10 decision to the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.
- Junior LJ Bentley (125), senior Dom Forys (133) and redshirt freshman Jake Wentzel (165) were the lone Pitt wins in the dual.
- The Panthers dropped three crucial overtime matches at 141, 157 and 285.
PITT WRESTLING LOSES LEGEND
- Rande Stottlemyer, whose name is synonymous with the rich history of Pitt wrestling, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at the age of 62.
- Stottlemyer retired as head coach in 2013 as the winningest coach in program history after 34 years at the helm with a career record of 304-231-12.
- Prior to taking on the coaching role, Stottlemyer was a three-time All-American for the Panthers from 1974-78.
- Following his graduation from the University, he served as an assistant coach for one year before taking over as head coach in 1979.
- Stottlemyer produced 56 Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) individual champions, 33 All-Americans and three national champions. He was also named EWL Coach of the Year on five occasions.
- Stottlemyer is a member of the EWL Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award.
- The Pitt wrestling team and coaching staff will wear patches on their warm-ups to honor the legendary coach and there will be a moment of silence prior to the beginning of the match.
#PACKTHEPETE AND ALUMNI NIGHT
- The Panthers are set to host ACC foe Virginia Friday, Feb. 16 in the Petersen Events Center.
- The dual will also be Pitt Wrestling Alumni Night. Wrestling alumni planning to attend should RSVP to Kim Deri in Panther Club at kderi@athletics.pitt.edu.
