Panthers Continue Homestand with Privateers
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team will continue its homestand Friday, hosting the New Orleans Privateers at 4 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
The Panthers are in the midst of a four-game homestand after opening up the season Wednesday with a 61-58 loss to UCF on the 10th Annual School Day.

A WIN WOULD…
- Give the Panthers a 1-0 mark over New Orleans in the inaugural meeting between the two programs. The game marks the second straight contest in which the Panthers have faced a team they have never squared off with previously.
- Be the first head coaching victory for first-year leader Lance White.
- Be the 137th victory for the women's program at the Petersen Events Center, with the all-time program record currently sitting at 136-109 (.555).
LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers suffered a tough season-opening loss, dropping a 61-58 decision to UCF on School Day at the Petersen Events Center Wednesday, Nov. 7.
- Redshirt senior Aysia Bugg led the Panthers offensively, tallying 14 points, followed by senior Cassidy Walsh, who put up 11 in her first career start.
- Pitt held the lead early, taking a two-point advantage into the break.
SCOUTING THE PRIVATEERS
- New Orleans opened its season Tuesday evening with an impressive 104-42 victory over Cenentary (LA) at home.
- Five Privateers tallied double-digit scoring performances in the season opener, led by a career-high 18-point output from sophomore guard Jada Duncantell.
- The Privateers shot an impressive .606 from the floor in their debut, adding six three pointers and going 10-of-16 from the free throw line.
- New Orleans wrapped up its 2017-18 campaign with a mark of 15-15 overall, going 11-7 in Southland Conference action.
- New Orleans was picked to finish seventh of 13 in the Southland Conference preseason poll. The Privateers finished in a three-way tie for fourth last season.
- The Privateers lost all of their starting backcourt from a season ago: Randi Brown, Kayla Mundy and Mariah Wright. The trio accounted for 38.3 percent of the team's 66.0 points per game in 2017-18. Brown, Mundy and Wright also had 64 percent of the team's assists in 2017-18.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Pitt will round out its four-game homestand, hosting Youngstown State (Nov. 13) and Cincinnati (Nov. 16).
- The Panthers will hit the road for five straight, traveling to Georgetown (Nov. 19), the Challenge in Music City (Nov. 23-25) and the ACC/Big 10 Challenge (Nov. 29).
