Panthers, Tigers to Face Off at Jervey Gym
PITTSBURGH – The No. 10 Pitt volleyball team (24-1, 12-1 ACC) will cap a four-match road trip at Clemson (14-12, 5-8 ACC) Sunday at 1 p.m. at Jervey Gym in Clemson, S.C.

- Junior middle hitter Layne Van Buskirk posted a blistering attack percentage of .824 with a match-high 14 kills as No. 10 Pitt bounced back with a sweep of Georgia Tech, 25-12, 25-19, 25-19, Friday at O'Keefe Gymnasium.
- The Panthers hit a season-best .429 against the Yellow Jackets, with 46 kills on 91 attempts and just seven errors. Pitt remains atop the ACC standings with the win.
- Van Buskirk's attack percentage is a season best. Her 14 kills came on 17 attempts with zero errors, and she led the Panthers with six blocks.
- The Panthers handily out-killed Georgia Tech (46-33) and had the upper hand in assists (44-31), digs (39-33) and blocks (8.0-4.0). Pitt held the Yellow Jackets to .198 attacking success.
A WIN WOULD…
- Extend the Panthers' best start to a season in school history, improving to 25-1.
- Extend the Panthers' best start to ACC play in program history, improving to 13-1.
- Improve Pitt's 2018 away record to 7-1, and 6-1 against ACC opponents.
- Improve the Panthers' all-time record against the Tigers to 7-1 overall and 4-0 when playing at Clemson.
- Extend the Panthers' win streak against the Tigers to seven matches. Pitt's only loss to Clemson came Aug. 30, 1997, at a neutral site (3-1).
- Improve the Panthers record at the Jervey Gym to 4-0. Pitt's last win at Clemson was on Nov. 17, 2017 (3-0).
RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Pitt slid down five spots to No. 10 in this week's edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll, following its first loss of the season.
- This marks the Panthers eighth consecutive week ranked in the top 10.
- Pitt's top ranking prior to the 2018 season came in 1990 when the squad was No. 17.
- The Panthers are No. 8 in the fifth release of the NCAA Volleyball Rating Percentage Index (RPI), released Monday, Oct 29.
STILL ON TOP
- Despite suffering their first loss of the season at Duke, the Panthers still hold the lead in the ACC with a 12-1 record. Louisville and Florida State are tied for second, each at 11-2 in the league.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Clemson (14-12, 5-8 ACC) will put a three-match win streak on the line against No. 10 Pitt Sunday. Most recently, the Tigers topped Virginia, 3-1, Friday at Jervey Gym.
- Clemson has won its last four home contests and is 7-2 when playing at Jervey Gym this season. Its last home loss came Sept. 30 against Louisville (3-2).
- No. 10 Pitt will be Clemson's first ranked opponent this season.
- The Tigers lead the ACC in total team assists (1,190) and total team kills (1,259). Freshman setter Gabby Easton leads the league with 1,035 total assists this season.
- Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Brooke Bailey leads Clemson with 3.34 kills per set, and freshman outside Ashtynne Albers is second at 2.64 kills per set. Freshman Torie Frederick is the team leader on defense with 3.06 digs per set.
THE SERIES – CLEMSON
- Friday will be the eighth meeting between No. 10 Pitt and Clemson with the Panthers leading the all-time series, 6-1. Pitt claimed the last meeting between the programs – Nov. 17, 2017, at Jervey Gym (3-0).
- The Panthers are unbeaten all-time when playing on the road at Clemson. Their lone loss in the series came at a neutral site Aug. 30, 1997 (3-1).
- Pitt has been dominant at O'Keefe Gymnasium, dropping just one set at the facility over three matches played.
- The Panthers have not dropped a set to Clemson since Oct. 19, 2014, winning the last 15 consecutive frames.

- No. 10 Pitt will host Senior Day against Duke, Sunday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House. The match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, available via the WatchESPN app.
