LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt enters the game after a resounding 90-38 win over New Orleans (Nov. 9) as head coach Lance White captured his first career head coaching victory.
- Four Panthers tallied double figures on the day, led by senior Cassidy Walsh's career-high 21 points. Junior Alayna Gribble (17), senior Danielle Garven (15) and sophomore Kyla Nelson (12) also added solid offensive performances for the Panthers as they collected their first win of the 2018-19 season.
- Gribble, making her season debut, went 5-of-10 from beyond the arc and is now just seven three pointers away from 100 in her career.
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
- Head Coach John Barnes returns for his sixth season, along with the rest of his coaching staff. YSU has an 82-77 record in Barnes' first five seasons at the helm.
- The Penguins are coming off a 16-16 record in the 2017-18 season that saw them win 10 of their final 14 games during a late push. YSU won a game in the Horizon League Tournament as the No. 5 seed and went on to play in the Women's Basketball Invitational. Youngstown State returns three seniors, a junior and two sophomores from last year's squad.
- YSU has played in the postseason four times in the last six seasons with WNIT berths in 2013 and 2015 and WBI bids in 2016 and 2018.
- YSU will dress a maximum of nine players for the foreseeable future. Of 13 the athletes on the roster, two juniors will sit out per Division I transfer regulations, and two freshman guards are out indefinitely due to injury.
