Pitt Gymnastics Unveils 2019 Schedule

Panthers to Host Four Meets at Fitzgerald Field House
PITTSBURGH – Entering her second year at the helm of the University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team, head coach Samantha Snider released the Panthers' 2019 schedule Tuesday, Oct. 9.
Pitt faces a challenging campaign, which features five teams that finished the 2018 season ranked inside the top 25. The Panthers will host four meets at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh.
"We are excited about this year's schedule," Snider said. "Our conference meets are going to be very competitive this year. We have the opportunity to compete against really strong teams this year like Denver, Minnesota and Nebraska. We're looking forward to some great competitions."
The Panthers will open the 2019 season at home with a quad meet against West Virginia, Eastern Michigan and Utah State (Jan. 12). Following its home opener, Pitt will face its first EAGL opponent on the road at New Hampshire (Jan. 18). The Wildcats were runners-up at the 2018 EAGL Championship, which was decided by .325 points.
Pitt will return home for back-to-back meets, first hosting a dual against EAGL foe George Washington (Jan. 26). The Colonials completed the 2018 season with a No. 25 ranking. Next, the Panthers will host a tri-meet against Temple and EAGL competitor North Carolina (Feb. 1).
The team will then make its way to Raleigh, N.C., for a dual against defending EAGL champion NC State (Feb. 9). The Wolfpack landed in a tie for No. 20 in the final 2018 national rankings.
Pitt will stay on the road to visit West Virginia in Morgantown (Feb. 17) before rounding out its home schedule by hosting the Mountaineers for a tri-meet with Ball State (Feb. 22).
The Panthers will then travel to Minneapolis for a dual meet against Minnesota (March 2) before facing a tough test at Denver (March 10) with a quad meet against the host Pioneers, Arizona State and Nebraska. Each of the teams set to compete at the Denver meet finished the 2018 season inside the top 25, including the Cornhuskers coming in at No. 7.
To close out the 2019 regular season, Pitt will compete in a five-team meet hosted by conference opponent Towson (March 17). In addition to the Tigers, EAGL foes New Hampshire and George Washington will participate, along with Maryland.
New Hampshire will host the 2019 EAGL Championship in Durham, N.H., set for April 5-7.
