Sophomore Tops School Mark in 600m

RESULTS

CLEMSON, S.C. – Sophomore Danté Watson set a school record in the men's indoor 600m as Pitt track and field completed action Saturday at the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson University Indoor Track.

The Hatfield, Pa., native won the event with a Pitt record time of 1:18.17. His mark bested the previous record of 1:18.26 set by Desmond Palmer Jan. 14, 2017 at the Nittany Lion Challenge.

Other highlights of the day included junior Gillian Schriever placing second in the women's 3000m at 9:39.58, and senior Beth Shenck taking third in the women's 800m at 2:11.31.

Kelly Hayes followed Schriever in fifth place in the women's 3000m, coming in at 9:48.32. Senior Andin Fosam took fifth in the women's weight throw at 18.05m.

Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams posted season-best times, with the women (seniors Morgan Harvey, Quadaisha Newkirk, Laila Ismail and Desiree Garland) coming in fourth at 3:40.73, and the men (freshman Ade Jones-Roundtree, Watson, junior Ken Brosier and freshman Lonzell Feagin) taking sixth at 3:11.43.
