PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh had 240 student-athletes named to the 2016-17 Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll as announced Thursday by league commissioner John Swofford. Pitt has placed over 200 student-athletes on the honor roll in each of its four seasons as a member of the ACC and has averaged 243 selections over the past three academic years.
The 61st annual ACC Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year. The conference recognized a record 4,473 student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.
Duke led all schools with 489 student-athletes recognized, and Notre Dame followed with 445. Boston College saw 422 student-athletes achieve Honor Roll status. North Carolina had 385 student-athletes recognized, followed by Louisville (351) and Virginia (323). Syracuse was next with 282, followed by Virginia Tech (278), Florida State (252), Pitt (240), NC State (232), Clemson (228), Georgia Tech (184), Miami (181) and Wake Forest (181).
Pitt had 20 student-athletes named to the ACC Honor Roll for the fourth time in their careers: Dee Dee Adams (Track & Field/Cross Country), Alex Archer (Track & Field/Cross Country), Audrey Ann Blakely (Tennis), Adam Bisnowaty (Football), Haden Calegan (Swimming & Diving), Kinga Chichowska (Swimming & Diving), Dontez Ford (Football), Taylor Francis (Women's Soccer), Spencer Gray (Swimming & Diving), Sarah Kochinsky (Track & Field/Cross Country), Zach Lierley (Swimming & Diving), Siobhan McDonough (Women's Soccer), Reggie Mitchell (Football), Caleb Parry (Baseball), Ariel Pastore-Sebring (Track & Field/Cross Country), Emily Katherine Pietrangelo (Women's Soccer), Carly Seneca (Women's Soccer), Ryan Winslow (Football), Charlene Yuan (Swimming & Diving) and Nick Zanetta (Wrestling).
