Three Panthers Land on ACC All-Academic Baseball Team

Mattson, Parry, Wright Honored by Conference
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Isaac Mattson, Caleb Parry and Jacob Wright garnered academic recognition Thursday afternoon, as the trio was named to the ACC All-Academic team.
Mattson, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 19th round of the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft, earns his first ACC All-Academic selection, as the mechanical engineering major boasts a 3.48 cumulative grade point average and maintained a 3.56 during the 2017 season. He was Pitt's ERA leader with a mark of 2.87, making 21 appearances, allowing just 10 earned runs off 25 hits and nine walks, striking out 41.
The recognition is also the first for Parry, who holds a 3.55 cumulative grade point average as a biology major. Parry hit .278 on the season with a team-high 47 RBI. He tallied 58 hits, including 11 doubles, two triples and seven homers. He hit a .450 slugging percentage to lead the team and added a .360 on-base mark. He was nearly perfect in the field, committing just two errors on the year.
Wright wraps up his career with his third consecutive All-Academic honor, graduating with a 3.85 cumulative grade point average as a biology major. In addition to maintaining a 3.93 grade point average during the season, Wright hit .266, tallying 53 hits with 14 doubles, five triples and seven homers. He recorded a team-best .492 slugging percentage and a .405 on-base percentage. Wright graduated second all-time in Pitt history in walks and ranks in the top 10 in triples.
To be considered for the team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 for the previous semester and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average during their academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also taken into consideration.
