Baseball Experience Continues to Grow at Pitt

Panthers Set New Attendance Marks in 2017
PITTSBURGH - In its seventh year of operation on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, Charles L. Cost field, home of Pitt baseball, continues to invite fans for a one-of-a-kind experience.
The 2017 season saw continued growth for the baseball program, with new attendance records being set, as the Panthers have welcomed more than 60,000 fans through the gates of the Petersen Sports Complex since it opened in 2011.
Continued growth in season attendance occurred in 2017, as the Panthers saw the highest average attendance in Cost Field history. The overall attendance figure is also the most in a single season since Pitt joined the ACC prior to the 2014 season.
On April 4, the Panthers hosted members of the Pitt football team, as head coach Pat Narduzzi threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Members of the Panther Pitt gathered to watch the home team claim a 3-2 victory over its in-state rival, as the game broke the record for attendance at a non-conference game.
Pitt also saw a March single-game attendance record fall, as the blackout game with Virginia Tech welcomed more than 600 fans to the friendly confines of The Cost.
In addition to those outings, Pitt also hosted fans in a Negro League Celebration, #BurghProud Night and an Easter Egg Hunt in conjunction with the softball team. The Panthers additionally participated in pregame festivities with a multitude of local baseball teams, as part of its Field of Dreams initiative.
