Pitt Heads South for Quad at West Virginia

PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team looks to keep the momentum rolling on Sunday, traveling to Morgantown, W.Va., for a quad-meet set to get underway at 2 p.m.
The Panthers will take on host West Virginia in addition to EAGL foe No. 16 George Washington and No. 24 Eastern Michigan.

THE MEET
Pitt heads south for a quad-meet at rival West Virginia as the Panthers take on the Mountaineers for the second time in the past three days. In addition to West Virginia, Pitt will also square off with a pair of top-25 teams in EAGL foe No. 16 George Washington and No. 24 Eastern Michigan.
Pitt is coming off of an impressive showing in Friday's quad meet at Fitzgerald Field House as the Panthers placed second with a season-high 195.375. As Pitt celebrated Senior Night in front of a record crowd, the team posted season highs on vault (48.950) and beam (48.750). Senior Kelly Burak took first on beam with a career-high 9.900 in her final meet at the Fitz.
SERIES WITH WEST VIRGINIA
This will be the 72nd all-time meeting between the two programs and third of the season in a series dating back to the 1975 season. Pitt defeated its rival by a score of 194.025-193.875 earlier this season, giving the Panthers their first win over the Mountaineers since 1992. On Friday, Pitt was edged by the Mountaineers by a score of 195.700-195.375. All-time, West Virginia owns a 58-13-0 record over the Panthers.
SERIES WITH GEORGE WASHINGTON
This will be the 29th all-time meeting between the two programs and the second of the season in a series dating back to the 1991 season. Pitt holds a 16-12-0 all-time advantage over the Colonials. George Washington, edged the Panthers by a score of 195.850-194.725 in a home five-team meet earlier this season.
At the 2016 EAGL Championships, Pitt knocked off George Washington by a mark of 195.675-193.575 to win its first-ever conference title.
SERIES WITH EASTERN MICHIGAN
This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series dating back to the 1978 season. Eastern Michigan holds a 6-4-0 all-time advantage and is winners of two straight. In a pair of battles last season, Eastern Michigan claimed wins of 194.875-191.050 and 195.800-193.450.
Pitt's last win over the Eagles came on Jan. 20, 1996 as the Panthers captured a 189.375-188.050 victory at Fitzgerald Field House.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will continue a trend of top-opponents, traveling to Auburn for a battle with the No. 18 Tigers as their final tune up before EAGL Championships. The Panthers will travel to Cary, N.C., for the 2017 conference meet set for March 18.
