- Junior center Kalista Walters leads the ACC through three games this season with 11.7 rebounds per outing. Her career-high 16 boards against Youngstown State in the season opener (Nov. 10) stands as the single-game high mark for the league so far.
- Walters ranks second in the ACC in field goal percentage at .700 (21-of-30) and fourth in blocked shots per game (2.7) while ranking 15th in scoring (15.3 ppg).
- Pitt is one of four ACC teams which rosters boast two or more players with a 20-point performance so far (Yacine Diop, Kalista Walters). The others are Florida State, NC State and North Carolina.
A WIN WOULD…
- Keep the Panthers unbeaten against the Tigers in the all-time series, improving to 5-0.
- Improve Pitt's allt-time record against CAA schools to 17-8.
- Improve the Panthers' record in November to 9-2 since last season.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS DAY
- Sunday is Special Olympics Day at Petersen Events Center. Local Special Olympics athletes will join the starting lineup announcements for both Pitt and Towson.
- The Olympic Flames basketball team will play a halftime scrimmage.
LAST TIME OUT
- Redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop and junior center Kalista Walters combined for 43 of Pitt's 53 points as Pitt suffered its first loss of the season to Duquesne, 66-53, Thursday night at Petersen Events Center.
- Diop had a team-high 22 points on 9-of-20 shooting, recording her first 20-point outing since scoring a career-high 26 at Michigan in December 2015. Walters followed with 21 points on 9-of-14, and added nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals in a career-high 40 minutes played. It was her first 20-point game since scoring 22 points in the 2015 edition of the City Game as a freshman.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Towson (0-2, 0-0 CAA) is looking for its first win of the season after dropping contests at Massachusetts (72-49) and against George Washington (66-43). Sophomore guard Nukiya Mayo leads the Tigers with 12.5 points per game while senior forward Mary Cuevas paces the team on the boards with 8.5 rebounds per game.
- The contest will be the first between Pitt and Towson since Nov. 26, 2005, when the Panthers defeated the Tigers during the Pitt Thanksgiving Tournament, 69-50.
UP NEXT
- The Panthers will make their first road trip of the season, visiting Cincinnati, Tuesday at 7 p.m. The game will be played at St. Ursula Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio.
