Oakland Zoo Among Best Fan Distractions in the NCAA

PITTSBURGH -- The Oakland Zoo received high praise from the NCAA recently with a No. 5 ranking on the Best Fan Distractions in college basketball. The Pitt student section has made the Petersen Events Center one of the premier home court advantages in college basketball since its opening Nov. 23, 2002.
Pitt has won 231 games in front of the raucous Oakland Zoo, the second-most home wins in the NCAA since the opening of the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers won their first 34 games at the venue for the third-longest win streak to open a new arena in NCAA Division I basketball history.

Pitt, 12-7 overall with a 9-2 mark at home, returns to the Petersen Events Center Tuesday, Jan. 24 to host No. xx Louisville (7 p.m. - ESPNU).
