In 2025-26, Sumler started 18-of-28 games and averaged 18.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 48.0 percent from the field (191-of-398) and 39.6 percent from three-point range (59-of-149). He generated more total points than any player in the Big South and ranked 53rd nationally in scoring at the end of the regular season. Sumler eclipsed 1,000 career points in the regular-season finale at UNC Asheville on Feb. 28, the same game in which he also recorded his 500th point of the season.
Sumler turned in several standout performances throughout the year. He set a career high with 35 points in an overtime matchup against USC Upstate on Jan. 14, posted 29 points on 11-of-13 shooting against IU Indy on Nov. 18 and recorded a triple-double of 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists against Longwood — the first by a Charleston Southern player since 2020. He also scored 29 points at Gardner-Webb on Dec. 31, his first Big South appearance in almost 700 days, and was named Big South Player of the Week during the season.
Sumler sat out the 2024-25 season as a redshirt following his breakout 2023-24 campaign at Charleston Southern, in which he earned Big South All-Conference Honorable Mention as the Buccaneers' starting shooting guard. He averaged 14.2 points per game overall and 16.6 in Big South play, ranking fifth in the conference, and finished third in the league in three-pointers made per game in conference contests at 2.0. Sumler began his collegiate career at Northern Kentucky in 2022-23, appearing in 28 games for the Norse and earning Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors in December.
Sumler attended Buford High School in Buford, Georgia, where he led the team to a Class 6A state championship runner-up finish as a senior, averaging 16.3 points per game. He earned Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State and Atlanta Tipoff Club All-Metro honors.
