Seven Gymnasts Earn NACGC/W Scholastic All-America Honors

PITTSBURGH - Seven members of the Pitt gymnastics program earned Scholastic All-America honors for the 2016 season, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W).

To be recognized as a NACGC/W Scholastic All-American, student-athletes must carry a grade-point average of 3.50 or better.

This 2015-16 academic honorees include recent graduates Tiara Chadran and Lindsay Offutt, rising senior Kelly Burak, rising juniors Julia Schindel and Taylor Laymon, and rising sophomores Krista Collins and Meagan Oscar.

Six of Pitt's seven All-Americans earned their first honors, while Offutt picks up her second after being awarded All-America status in 2015. The standout senior graduated with a degree in Political Science and earned a 3.64 in her final year.

Collins, a communications major, led the way for the Panthers earning a 3.91 GPA in her first year at Pitt. She was followed by Schindel, who earned a 3.83 GPA while studying rehabilitation science.

Burak (3.70, psychology), Oscar (3.66, anthropology), Chadran (3.63, sociology/psychology) and Laymon (3.60, psychology) rounded out Pitt's group of All-Americans.
