PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team dropped two games to Boston College Saturday afternoon, falling to the Eagles 5-2 and 7-3 respectively at Shea Field.

In game two, Pitt and Boston College were tied 1-1 early on but the Eagles put up a five-spot in the bottom of the third which the Panthers were unable to match.

Game One: Pitt 2, Boston College 5
• The Panthers fell to the Eagles in game one of the series, 5-2, with Modic taking the loss.
• Boston College got on the board first in the bottom half of the second, taking a 1-0 lead. • Pitt took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth when Modic hit a towering long ball over the right field fence with sophomore McKayla Taylor on second.
• Following a 45 minute rain delay, the Eagles answered in the bottom half of the sixth with four runs to regain a 5-2 lead. The first two runs came on a two-RBI home run by Murphy, scoring Chloe Sharabba. Severini kept things going for Boston College with a single and was joined on base by Chimento who walked. Both runners moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt and advanced home on an error by the Panthers.
• Pitt was retired in order in its final chance at the plate.
Game Two: Pitt 3, Boston College 7
• Boston College defeated Pitt 7-3 in game two with Harris getting the loss.
• The Eagles bats went to work in the bottom of the second, scoring the first run of the game on two hits to take a 1-0 lead. Sharabba and Murphy led off the inning with back-to-back hits setting up runners on second and third. Sharabba scored on a ground ball to short by Chimento, as Taylor opted for the out at one.
• The Panthers tied the game 1-1 in the top of the third on consecutive hits by Hershman and junior Kaitlin Manuel. Hershman led off the inning with a double to right center and scored on an RBI-single by Manuel.
• Boston College put up a five-spot in the bottom of the third to give the Eagles a 6-1 advantage. A two-run home run by Tatiana Cortez, scoring Daulton got things going for BC. Harris continued to struggle as she walked Sharabba in the next at-bat and gave up another run on a double by Murphy. Severini followed with a double of her own, scoring Murphy, and came around herself on a single to left center by Chimento.
• Pitt put up a single run in the fourth but continued to trail Boston College, 6-2. Sophomore Giorgiana Zeremenko put up a double to begin the inning and was replaced by senior Ashlee Sills on the base paths. Sills came around on a Hershman single to center.
• The Eagles added their seventh run on a pair of Panther errors in the sixth to take a 7-2 lead.
• Pitt scored its one run in the seventh as Manuel came around on a Sevilla single to right but Taylor would line into a double play to end the game and give BC a 7-3 win.
