FORT WORTH, Texas – University of Pittsburgh gymnast Lindsay Offutt concluded her career as a Panther with a final routine on floor at the 2016 Women’s Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas Friday afternoon.
Offutt, who rotated with Auburn, scored a 9.850 on the event to finish tied for 13th in the first of two semifinals. She finished the meet 25th overall following both sessions.
“Lindsay finished her career with the best floor routine of her life,” head coach Debbie Yohman said. “Her tumbling was huge and landings were great. We had several coaches plus spectators tell us it was the best set of the afternoon. Because she was the only routine performing in the arena everyone got to watch her. I have to say Lindsay wrapped up her career in typical Lindsay fashion. She kicked butt.”
The White Lake, Mich., native was the last competitor of the meet to perform as the Tigers did not compete on floor until the sixth and final rotation.
The meet capped off an outstanding season for the senior who was the first Panther to reach Nationals since Andrea Arlotta qualified in 2007 in the all-around. Offutt qualified for the Championships after tying for first place on floor with a 9.900 at the Ann Arbor Regional on April 2.
