PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer program added six student-athletes to the 2016 roster, as head coach Greg Miller announced the class of 2016 Tuesday morning.
The six incoming student-athletes represent five states (Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia) in addition to an international presence (New Zealand).
"Every year we look forward to this day because the build-up is finally over and now these women are officially Pitt Panthers," said Miller. "Some of them have been committed to us for over a year and a half so the fact they are now only months away from impacting our program is really exciting.
"As with any class, you try and address areas in your team where you may need depth or to fill a real positional need. In the 2016 class, we needed some additional forwards, a defender, and a goalkeeper and feel confident in the players we've identified for those positions. This is an attack-oriented class who are collectively talented, excel academically, and are women of great character."
In addition to the incoming freshmen, Pitt adds transfer Brianna Shingary and returns all but one member of its impressive 2015 squad. Last year, the Panthers completed their best season since joining the ACC, finishing with an overall record of 10-7-1 and grabbing four conference victories, with wins over North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Louisville and Syracuse.
Following is a roster and biographical sketches on each of Pitt's five signees.
