GREENSBORO, N.C. – After two game-winning goals in as many games, sophomore forward Taylor Pryce was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Women’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week by league officials on Tuesday.
"We are very happy for Taylor and it is much deserved,” said head coach Greg Miller. “She has been really impacting our team's success, and it's great she's getting recognized for it."
Pryce was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.Com Team of the Week, joining Hofstra’s Leah Galton and South Carolina’s Raina Johnson at the forward position. This came in addition to being recognized as the First National Bank Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Behind her efforts, the Panthers improved to 3-0-0 in ACC play, and have won eight straight to move to 9-1-1 overall and a tie for first in the conference standings.
Against Wake Forest, Pryce tallied the decisive goal in the final minute of overtime to give the Panthers a 2-1 victory. She then netted the game’s lone goal against Louisville in the 70th minute to propel the Panthers to a 1-0 triumph.
Pryce is leading the team in points this season with 14 (five goals, four assists) and is guiding Pitt to its best campaign in program history as the Panthers have already established a new team record of nine wins on the year.
The Thornhill, Ontario, native is the program’s first to receive conference Offensive Player of the Week honors since 2000. She is also the first to receive a conference player of the week award of any kind since Nicole D’Agostino was named Big East Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 15, 2012.
Pryce shares the honor with Florida State’s Megan Connolly. Another Seminole, Kirsten Crowley, was named Defensive Player of the Week. Pitt travels to face Florida State, ranked No. 3 nationally by the NSCAA last week, this Saturday at Noon.
