PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer program added Ohio State transfer Nicole Hopkins to its 2015 roster, Pitt head coach Greg Miller announced on Friday. Hopkins, who is already enrolled in classes at Pitt, will be eligible to compete for Pitt when it opens its 2015 fall season.
“We are excited to have Niki join our program,” said Miller, who served as assistant coach at Ohio State from 2001-12. “I have known her several years so I’m sure that will help in her transition into our environment. She brings real tenacity and competitive fire to our team and will have a wonderful opportunity to play and develop this spring.”
Hopkins spent her first two collegiate seasons at Ohio State in 2013 and 2014. She redshirted during her true freshman season in 2013, then competed in five games in her second year in 2014.
A two-time First Team All-Ohio and All-Midwest Region selection and three-time All-Conference and All-District player for Centerville High School, Hopkins was a four-year starter who earned scholar-athlete honors as a senior in 2013. Hopkins helped guide her club team, Ohio Premier to the Under-18 ECNL national championship in 2013. She scored 24 goals and added 15 assists as a defender.
