PITTSBURGH - Three Pitt gymnastics signees recently competed at the Junior Olympic National Championships in Long Beach, Calif., May 12-14. Those future Panthers competing were Haley Bodenheimer, Bri Hogan and Haley Sedgewick.
Bodenheimer and Hogan each signed with Pitt during the early signing period in November, while Sedgewick joined the Panthers 2012 squad by signing her National Letter of Intent in the spring.
Bodenheimer competed in the Senior C age division and placed 16th in the all-around and 12th on the balance beam. In 2010, she was the state champion on vault, runner-up on bars and beam and placed 10th in the all-around at the Junior Olympics.
Hogan also competed in the Senior C age division, while placing 15th in the all-around competition and second on the uneven bars, while tying for 10th in both the balance beam and floor exercise. In 2010, Hogan finished third on the floor and fifth on the bars at the Region 5 competition and in 2009, she was a J.O. national qualifier, finishing 18th in the all-around.
Sedgewick finished 11th in the all-around in the Senior D age division, while finishing eight on the vault and 14th on the floor exercise. In April, Sedgewick finished fourth in the all-around, third on the floor, fifth on the vault, eighth on the bars and 11th on the beam at the Level 10 Region 5 championships.
All three gymnasts are set to join the Panther squad this fall when they arrive on Pitt's campus.
