Pitt Gymnastics Falls In Home Finale

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt gymnastics team fell at home in their final home meet of the season to N.C. State on Sunday afternoon, 196.075-192.375.
"We had some good performances today and some career highs, but overall, we are disappointed with our performance," head coach Debbie Yohman said. "We have to be better the next time we come out."
The Panthers started out the afternoon on vault with a 48.625 team score, led by senior Molly Moyer (Telford, Pa./Buxmont Christian) who scored a 9.825. N.C. State's first rotation resulted in a 48.950 on the uneven bars to jump out to an early lead.
The squads switched events for the second rotation with the Wolfpack extending their lead to 97.900-96.575 over the Panthers. Pitt was led by freshman Brittney Harris (Easton, Pa./Easton), who scored a team-best 9.775 and finished fourth overall.
On the beam, individually Pitt hit numerous career highs as freshman Katie O'Rourke (Springfield, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) scored a 9.85, Harris recorded a 9.75 and junior Lisa Taylor (Odessa, Fla./Tampa) scored a career-high 9.775. As a team, the Panthers scored a 47.675.
Pitt recorded more career highs on the floor exercise including a 9.825 from Mallory Brewer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids CC), a 9.800 from O'Rourke and a 9.775 from freshman Maya Ketner (Okemos, Mich., Okemos). The Panthers recorded a team score of 48.125 and ended the day with the 192.375.
Pitt concludes its regular season at Ohio State in a tri-meet with Missouri on March 12. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
