Eight Pitt Gymnasts Named To EAGL All-Academic Squad

The Pitt gymnastics team placed eight on the East Atlantic Gymnastics League’s All-Academic team, the league announced on Monday.
Pitt’s honorees include: sophomore Alyssa Adrian, senior Jen Liberato, freshman Kori Macdonald, senior Molly Moyer, sophomore Laura Rigney, junior Lisa Taylor, senior Shannon Vafiadou and junior Amy Varela.
Liberato and Taylor are three-time honorees for the Panthers, while Moyer and Vafiadou have earned the distinction the past two years.
In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Freshmen are eligible if they have earned a GPA or 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
Pitt competes at the EAGL Championship on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. in Washington, D.C., at the Charles E. Smith Center. Those Panthers earning all-academic honors will be recognized at the 2011 EAGL Championship banquet on Friday evening.
